The basic annual service under BS 5306-3 usually costs £8–£15 per extinguisher in the UK. The 5-year extended service (a more involved internal check on most stored-pressure units) is typically £18–£30 per unit. The 10-year overhaul is rarely economic — most operators replace at 10 years for a similar outlay.

Site visit & minimum charges

Most engineers add a minimum visit fee of around £45–£75 + VAT to cover travel and admin. On a site with 4+ extinguishers this is absorbed into the per-unit rate; on a single-extinguisher site it is the dominant cost. Multi-site landlords usually run a single annual contract across every property to spread visit costs.

Common pricing as a guide: 6 L Water from ~£30, 6 L Foam from ~£35, 2 kg CO₂ from ~£45, F-class (wet chemical) from ~£90. New units include commissioning to BS 5306-4, bracket and ID sign.
